Last night ( 3/30/02 ) we went out to the Emerald, a great little bar in downtown St Pete to catch a couple of local acts, The Fizz and The Smuts. The Emerald is an older bar, but has a great atmosphere, clean tables, and features music acts now and then. The opening act tonite was The Smuts, a 70's style punk act that rocked the place. They had cool driving beats, fast guitar licks and they really had the songs down. The reminded me a little bit of the subhumanz or the buzzcocks or someone like that if you really want a comparison. Towards the end a guest singer got up and belted out a tune with the band, check out the pics.

The headlining act was a band called The Fizz. We met these guys on the way out of the Nashville pussy show, saw the flyer and knew we had to check it out. They are like a punk band with a definate 50's styling, sorta like chuck berry meets social distortion. They put on a good show, rocking the house with numerous songs and even a couple of ballad's. The drummer rocked, playing standing up...They had a ton of energy, check em out if you can.

We of course got some of the crowd that night, check it out.
